Writers' Wednesday: To Tweet or Not to Tweet?

OK, fellow writers (and readers!) out there: a question for you: do you Tweet? That is, if you're an author, do you use Twitter as a method of social media communication/sales and promotion ~ and if you're a reader, do you follow favorite authors?

I'm taking a month-long course over at Savvy Authors on Social Media for Writers, mostly to figure out how to use what I do have in place more effectively - but also to find out if I should be using Twitter and if so, how the heck to go about doing it.

So I'm interested...if you are an active Twitter member, what do you like about it? What do you most use it for? How often do you Tweet, and is there anything that really turns you off about how other people use it?

I'd love to know!

Hi Allie,

I love Twitter. Once you get a good group of people to follow, the information you glean from them can be indispensible. Found this interesting article on Twitter tips for writers. Oh yeah, and I found it on Twitter! http://bit.ly/IfRc3v

Hi Allie,

I use Twitter all the time - for interacting with friends, readers, fellow authors, everyone, really! :) I do post links to my books (though I should be better at that), and I definitely follow my favorite authors. It's alwao a way for me to stay in touch with personal friends who don't live nearby, too.

I find it fun, and at times addicting. And I can most definitely be obnoxious at times when I'm being silly with friends - I'm working on trying to curb that.

Thanks, guys! I think I really just need to jump in with both feet and wade around awhile until I get the hang of it :)

HI Allie! I have found twitter to be my best social media friend! I love it so much, fast, addicting and so easy to reach many different people and make friends. I highly recommend it,just give yourself a learning curve and engage with others - don't just put out tweets like bitsof info to buy your book. Great topic!

I do Twitter and usually at least once a day for promoting books, promotting the blog and to see what others are up to. Some days it's once. Other days a few times. Sometimes I forget
