"Working with Heath was one of the purest joys of my life. He brought to the role of Ennis Del Mar more than any of us could have imagined — a thirst for life, for love and for truth, and a vulnerability that made everyone who knew him love him. His death is heartbreaking." ~Ang Lee, Director
Well, unless you've been living under a rock the last couple of days, you know that actor Heath Ledger died on Tuesday, under somewhat strange circumstances. I hope it wasn't suicide. I even hope it wasn't an overdose of an illegal substance. I'd like to live in my little idealistic world and imagine that he just took the sleeping pills the doctor prescribed and something went weird with his heart.
The autopsy didn't reveal anything conclusive, which means anothe 10 days for a full toxicology report, I guess. I suppose we'll know all the details then; they'll be splashed across every tabloid in the grocery store.
It's just so sad. Unbelievable, too. Such a loss, such potential, and so young for it all to end, just 28. I mourn for his 2-year old daughter and for his ex-fiancee, Michelle Williams.
Here are a few of his best movie moments, in my opinion. He will be missed, that's for certain. RIP.

So sad. I have loved him since I saw him in "10 Things I Hate About You". This just shows that we never really know what is going on inside someone's heart and head. It is also a lesson that things are not always what they appear. My heart goes out to Michelle Williams and their daughter, Matilda.
I loved him in "10 Things I Hate About You"...
But you forgot "The Patriot". He was amazing in that.
I don't know the first movie that you had the clip from but I absolutely LOVED that scene!!! I will have to find out and see it.
It is so sad that so many young talented people with so much to live for die so young. I too hope it isn't drugs, etc. but for so many there is just too much fame and fortune too fast and they can't cope.
Thanks for the clips.
This is still just so shocking. I adored him in "10 Things." I just hope it was all an accident and that his family can live with some closure and peace.
Nice tribute . . .
I think they are saying that the bottles of pills were prescription
and over the counter drugs. He was having trouble sleeping and was taking Ambience, but it didn't help. The role of the "Joker" was supposedly getting to him! They found a rolled-up 20 dollar bill, but no signs of drugs used with it. Cindi
Actually, Marianne, I didn't forget "The Patriot" - I just couldn't find a good video clip of him. But yes, he was great in that one too.
And Marylou, the first clip is from "10 Things I Hate About You" - cute modern-day adaptation of "The Taming of the Shrew."
Sigh. I'm still sad.
I did a blog post about him, too. It's just so sad and hard to believe. He was too young to leave this earth.
